Bus Service to Rio Rancho Has Riders, More Expected; Hoped for
Something that once again is a big concern of mine is that of workable, affordable mass transit throughout the Albuquerque metro area.
While the drawing board is being filled with ideas about a light rail system for Central and even a spur route to the Sunport, its important to realize while the city itself needs good reliable transit, the most benefit can be obtained by getting communters from the suburbs off of the crowded streets and in some type of mass transportation.
Though it has started slowly with only one route with three stops in Rio Rancho, the ABQ Ride Bus route 151 has been what seems like a modest success.
Hopefully the more people that use this service, the more services it will spawn and the more people it can help get to work or wherever they need to go. Right now I love all the strides the metro area has made in implementing mass transit, its just not at the point now where it has reached me where I live and work. Hopefully the word gets out the service exists, and more people request it to come a bit closer to them.

"We certainly think there can be more riders on this route, but we're very happy with the riders we have," said Jay Faught, ABQ Ride spokesman. Its great that Albuquerque has realized the importance of tapping into the great potential, actually, the need for reliable mass transit.
